What We Have Now

  • Cumbria Yes

    Unaccountable leadership

They can make bad decisions and we can’t vote them out.

  • Cumbria Yes

    Power Through Back Room Deals

We only get to vote for our local Councillor. The Leader is decided in backroom political deals.

  • Cumbria Yes

    Cost

We have a Chief Executive on six figures and a further six figures for the leader and his numerous cabinet members.

What We Want

  • Cumbria Yes

    Accountable leadership

If we don't like them or what they do we can get rid of them in an election.

  • Cumbria Yes

    Every Vote Counts

Every Cumbrian votes for the Mayor. We all have an equal say.

  • Cumbria Yes

The Mayor can choose to run the Council without a Chief Executive and doesn't need a cabinet of Councillors.
